Our client is an high-growth energy infrastructure business, seeking a remote Senior Counsel to support its continued expansion across the United States. This role is a fast track opportunity to General Counsel for the successful candidate

The company develops and manages complex, capital-intensive energy and energy storage projects serving the digital infrastructure industry.

This is a broad, business-facing legal position with regular exposure to senior leadership and teams across the organization. The Senior Counsel will advise on commercial transactions, project development, financing activities, corporate matters, compliance, and the legal issues that arise throughout the lifecycle of major infrastructure assets. The role will also manage specialist outside counsel and help build the legal processes required to support a growing organization.

This opportunity will appeal to an attorney who wants greater ownership, a wider range of work, and the ability to influence how an expanding business approaches legal risk and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary legal adviser to leadership and business teams across the organization.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the company’s commercial priorities, projects, contractual obligations, and operating risks.
  • Oversee legal work associated with commercial transactions, project development, financing, construction, operations, corporate governance, and regulatory matters.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements and other transaction documents.
  • Advise business teams on commercial structures, contractual terms, risk allocation, and negotiation strategy.
  • Support the development and execution of new projects and strategic business opportunities.
  • Assist with financing transactions, including due diligence, structuring, documentation, negotiation, and coordination with capital providers and advisers.
  • Provide legal support for acquisitions, investments, partnerships, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the bar of at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • A minimum of six years of relevant legal experience gained in private practice, an in-house environment, or a combination of both.
  • Transactional experience within infrastructure, energy, project development, construction, finance, M&A, real assets, or another capital-intensive sector.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, legal analysis, and issue-identification capabilities.
  • Commercial judgment and the ability to differentiate significant business exposure from manageable legal risk.
  • Experience working with senior executives, investment professionals, project teams, technical stakeholders, or operating leaders.
  • Familiarity with large-scale energy, utility, industrial, technology, or mission-critical infrastructure would be advantageous.
