TITLE: Ruminant Sales Representative

LOCATION: Central & South Florida

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports directly to the Southeast Region Sales Manager or designate.

PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

Under general direction, recruits new customers, services existing customers, and is responsible for product sales of McNess contract co-products, third party commodities, and added value products (vitamin & Mineral premix, feed additives, manufactured feeds, protein blends, etc.). Will be engaged in enhancing ruminant production performance for producers and the development of markets in association with the Southeast division, while placing maximum efforts to market and sell the Furst-McNess strategic Comprehensive Nutritional Program. Primary Dairy Focus in identifying product opportunities that enhance existing initiatives and build relationships with dairy influencers (Vets/Independent Nutritionists).

PRINCIPAL DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Spearhead growth of ruminant business with primary focus to the sales of Furst-McNess Dairy Program including co-products, commodities, in addition to branded products such as dairy specialty products and manufactured products in the designated region.
• Provide modern services required in the ruminant area regarding animal husbandry and performance.
• Be on the leading edge in regard to ruminant animal feeding and management trends and practices for use in developing company programs and use in the field.
• Actively maintain a top prospect list within the defined territory.
• Achieve annual business plan objectives.
• Resolve customer concerns and questions in a timely manner independently or through the utilization of other resources within the Company as the case may require.
• Communicate business development opportunities and participate in development of such opportunities.
• Functional component of sales team. Participate in internal meetings and constructively interact with the entire team.
• Show discipline in keeping an aggressive and innovative sales development plan to reach specific sales and contribution cycles/annual targets.
• Participate in Company meetings on product development, opportunities and techniques as part of the overall team selling approach.
• In conjunction with other team members or independently as the situation dictates, develop new accounts by making presentations of Company programs, products and services to prospective clients.
• Participate in industry associations as appropriate and as directed.
• Establish realistic levels of credit with clients and thoroughly follow up on credit issues for speedy resolution to problems. Advise clients of available credit limits for the purchase of Company products and services. Maintain accounts receivable for assigned territory within the policy as set forth within the Company.
• Resolve producers' concerns and questions in a timely manner. independently or if required through the utilization of other company resources, i.e. customer service, credit, technical services, etc.
• Perform other work-related duties as requested or required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Be able to succeed within and adhere to the culture of the Furst-McNess Company.
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without supervision.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to manage time efficiently and independently.
• Good communication skills, both oral and written and can utilize these skills within all levels of the Company as well as externally.
• Ability to provide outstanding customer service to all customers, associates, and management staff, showing a sense of urgency relative to solving problems, performing assigned tasks, employee concerns, etc.
• Ability to effectively organize work schedules and manage multiple assignments by utilizing time management skills to ensure day-to-day assignments and special projects are completed within guidelines agreed upon.
• Ability to work as an effective team member within the operating area and company. Willingness to pitch in and do work that may not be a specific part of the job description for the overall good of the department and company.
• Ability to be flexible and be willing to change along with recommending changes that can enhance our ability to serve both internal and external customers more effectively and in a professional manner. Respect other peoples’ points of view and able to take constructive criticism.
• Ability to travel, either by car or by commercial plan, including overnight stays, as business dictates. Must, at all times, possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record (within guidelines set forth in company vehicle policy).
