The Department of Information Technology (IT) plays a vital role in advancing customer-centered innovation across the organization. It is structured into three specialized technical bureaus: Business Enablement, Customer Success and Productivity, Technology Infrastructure and Cybersecurity. Collectively, staff members work together to provide essential services and technical support to all City staff and business functions. The City is dependent on IT to provide technology solutions that meet business function and organizational needs, while balancing security and support requirements. As the demand for secure, efficient, and business-aligned technology solutions continues to grow, IT is responsible for setting the strategic direction for enterprise technology. This includes identifying, recommending, implementing, and maintaining systems and tools that support the City’s operational and organizational goals. With a team of 95 dedicated professionals, the department delivers essential services and technical support to all City staff and business functions. IT fosters a culture that values collaboration, respect, and inclusivity, ensuring a supportive environment for both staff and stakeholders.


We are seeking a technically excellent and customer-focused Programmer/Analyst IV (PA IV) for the Financials team in the Business Enablement bureau.  Responsibilities require a broad knowledge in technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills due to the complex technical environment of the supported departments and offices.  

Department Hiring Salary Range: $67,155 - $77,228

Essential Functions

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Determines client's requirements by learning the client's current processes, documenting the requirements, writing system and program specifications, and obtaining approvals. 
  • Provides client support for production problems, system enhancements, software upgrades and annual processes.
  • Analyzes and resolves production problems by determining root cause and taking corrective action.   
  • Designs, develops, tests, and maintains applications, integrations and reports to meet the needs of clients as determined through verbal and written requirements and specifications.  
  • Ensures system integrity by monitoring servers, databases and system processes.
  • Develops and executes SQL queries, updates and maintains MS SQL stored procedures, and scheduled tasks. 
  • Prepares detailed systems documentation for programs and procedures. 
  • Installs desktop software.
  • Performs formal and informal staff training to enhance available technical in-house expertise.

 


 

Education/Experience

Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science or a related technical field, preferred.


A minimum of five years of IT experience, three years' experience as a programmer analyst required

Work Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM, eligible for hybrid work schedule after probationary period.
