About the Role:

Intermedia is seeking an experienced SDET Team Leader to lead quality engineering efforts for our Cloud Hosted IP Telephony platform. This role combines technical leadership with people management, working closely with Software Developers delivering quality enhancements following Agile methodologies. Responsibilities also include driving automation strategy, test architecture, and quality standards across a complex, distributed telephony system.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of Intermedia’s products by embedding quality into every stage of the software development lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities



Technical Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated test frameworks for the HPBX Telephony system.
  • Define and own the test strategy for functional, integration, regression, performance, and reliability testing.
  • Drive testability improvements by collaborating closely with Software Engineers and Architects
  • Ensure high-quality coverage across APIs, services, telephony flows, and system integrations.
  • Analyze production issues and contribute to root cause analysis and prevention strategies.
  • Ensure quality is embedded early in the SDLC (shift-left approach)
  • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of SDETs.
  • Set clear technical direction, goals, and quality standards for the team.
  • Conduct code reviews for test automation and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support career development, performance reviews, and skills growth.

Process & Collaboration
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and DevOps to align quality goals with business priorities.
  • Ensure automated tests are stable, maintainable, and provide fast feedback.
  • Represent Quality Assurance in planning, design, and architecture discussions.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise


Technical Skills
  • Strong experience as an SDET or Senior QA Automation Engineer Role
  • Proven leadership experience (formal or technical) managing or guiding SDET teams
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Java, Python, or C#
  • Deep experience with test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems
  • Experience testing distributed systems, APIs, and microservices.
  • Understanding of telephony concepts (VoIP, SIP, RTP) or complex real-time systems is highly desirable.

Leadership & Soft Skills
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Experience balancing hands-on work with team leadership responsibilities.
  • Ability to make pragmatic decisions in fast-paced, high-availability environments.
  • Passion for quality, automation, and continuous improvement
