Oracle’s Virtual Operating System (VOS) organization within Oracle Database delivers foundational communication and infrastructure technologies that power Oracle’s flagship database products, including Oracle RAC and Exadata. We are an agile, forward-thinking team driving innovation across high-performance communication, scalable networking services, and next-generation analytics and AI capabilities.
In this role, you will design, architect, and implement product-facing infrastructure and platform capabilities across three key areas: (1) networking and distributed systems services (including TCP/IP and HTTP/REST-based interfaces), (2) AI/agentic frameworks and workflows that enhance developer productivity on large codebases, and (3) streaming analytics and modern analytics integrations (e.g., Kafka and Apache Arrow-based stacks such as DataFrames, Arrow Flight, and Arrow Flight SQL). You will collaborate broadly across Oracle Database engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-quality features from ideation through production deployment and field support.
Own key components of the Oracle Database VOS stack in your area(s) of focus, delivering end-to-end ownership from concept and design through implementation, testing, release, and production support.
Drive architecture and technical direction for new and evolving services used by multiple database subsystems, balancing specificity for immediate needs with generality and reuse across a broader class of problems.
Build and evolve networking and distributed systems infrastructure, including TCP/IP and HTTP/REST-based services and protocols, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and operability.
Design and implement AI/agentic frameworks and workflows that improve developer productivity, including LLM-assisted code comprehension and generation, and scalable approaches for operating on large, complex codebases.
Contribute to streaming and analytics enablement, including Kafka-oriented streaming integrations and Apache Arrow-based analytics (DataFrames, Arrow Flight, Arrow Flight SQL) to support next-generation observability and data workflows.
Partner cross-functionally with database development teams to define requirements, integration points, and test strategies, including functional, system, and performance testing.
Act as a subject matter expert and point of contact for other groups within Oracle Database, guiding adoption and correct usage of the features and services you deliver.
Work with support and field-facing teams as needed to help diagnose and resolve issues in production environments, contributing to root-cause analysis and long-term fixes.
Stay current with fast-moving industry and open-source initiatives across systems, networking, AI, and streaming analytics; evaluate applicability and drive pragmatic adoption where it improves Oracle Database competitiveness.
Communicate clearly and effectively across teams, translating complex technical topics into actionable designs, reviews, and implementation plans.
