As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be a key player in this transformation. You'll work within the product community, solving real-world problems and identifying key product improvements. Your work will not only support the product strategy but also directly impact every person in the UK. You'll help mature our data science capabilities, moving our analysis from descriptive and diagnostic to predictive and prescriptive and most of all you’ll drive the success of the company's first ML model in production!

1. Drive Data-Informed Decisions and Strategy
Lead projects to explore and extract valuable information from our data to shape product strategy and roadmap specifically using predictive and prescriptive models to inform product strategy, identify new opportunities, and improve user experience
Work closely with product teams to design and validate success metrics and align them with business objectives.
Translate complex data insights into clear, concise, and actionable narratives for stakeholders.
Lead the design, execution, and analysis of complex experiments, owning the project from start to finish.
2. Develop and Deploy Advanced Models
Utilise statistical and machine learning techniques to analyse data and develop models that uncover key drivers.
Build predictive models, including machine learning models, and support product managers with time series forecasting.
Use a broad range of statistical techniques, such as regressions and matching techniques, and machine learning models like Naive Bayes and XGBoost.
Lead the end-to-end development, deployment, and monitoring of our first machine learning model in production.
Ensure scalability by standardising, documenting, and reviewing approaches for repeatable code and turning it into utilities.
Code with privacy and security in mind, suggesting processes and technologies for anonymisation.
3. Champion Collaboration and Mentorship
Serve as a subject matter expert in machine learning, mentoring other data scientists and analysts in model development, best practices, and productionisation
Work closely with product teams to advise on data collection improvements and assist with their day-to-day and exploratory data analysis needs.
Collaborate with other data specialists, participating in and requesting code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions.
Actively mentor and teach less senior members of the team.
Support the whole Data team by contributing to the requests rota and helping to unblock peers' work.
Support and mature the company data culture so that decisions are supported and/or driven by data.

We'd really like to hear from you, if ...
We know no one ticks every box, but some key things we value:
Proven experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong background in experimentation design, statistical analysis, and predictive modelling.
Demonstrable experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade machine learning models
Strong hands-on experience with complex SQL, preferably in an analytical environment like Snowflake.
Advanced proficiency in Python, including experience with key machine learning libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and MLOps principles
Experience working closely with product teams to identify trends, set success metrics, and establish OKRs.
Practical experience on expressing modelling results using visualisation techniques.
Experience with private and sensitive data, and knowledge of best practices for keeping it safe and anonymous.
Thoughtful, pragmatic, and unafraid to challenge assumptions to move the team forward.
