The Vacancy

Overview

The Regional Business Unit (RBU) Sales Specialist for the Transformers Business Unit is responsible for driving sales growth and supporting business objectives through effective sales execution and proposal development. This is a subject matter expert (SME) role focused on transformers, covering offline testing, online testing, and monitoring software.

The position works closely with Strategic, Key, and Regional Account Managers to engage customers, present technical solutions, and assist in closing opportunities. The role also supports technical presentations, webinars, and training sessions to promote the complete portfolio of transformer products.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Growth & Market Development

  • Drive sales of Transformer products within the assigned region in alignment with BU strategic objectives.
  • Identify, develop, and manage opportunities within the assigned customer segments
  • Support key account managers with product-specific strategy, bid support, pricing guidance, and competitive positioning.
  • Conduct business forecasting, territory pipeline review, and market planning with Sales leadership.
  • Expand market share through new customer acquisition and strengthening relationships with existing accounts.

Technical Sales Expertise

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the transformer product line, including test instruments, software solutions, and diagnostic platforms.
  • Support account managers in technical discussions, product demonstrations, testing methodologies, and proof-of-concept engagements.
  • Deliver advanced product presentations, webinars, trainings, and workshops tailored to customer needs.
  • Provide application insights, measurement interpretation advice, and diagnostics to help customers evaluate testing results and outcomes.

Implementation of BU Strategy in the Region

  • Translate Business Unit priorities, product launches, and strategic programs into actionable regional execution plans.
  • Ensure that messaging, value propositions, and product positioning are consistent with global BU strategy.
  • Work closely with BU leadership to communicate regional market conditions, customer requirements, competitive activity, and product feedback.
  • Support the rollout of BU initiatives such as new releases, campaigns, positioning changes, or channel development activities

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Regional Sales teams, Product Management, Engineering, Marketing and Technical Support
  • Assist in the creation and sharing of technical content, success stories, competitive comparisons, and market intelligence.
  • Support operational alignment between BU and region to improve forecasting accuracy, supply planning, product focus, and sales success.

Customer Engagement & Experience

  • Conduct field visits with account managers and channel partners to engage customers face-to-face.
  • Provide on-site testing support, troubleshooting guidance, and application advice when required.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction and strengthen Meggerโ€™s reputation as an industry leader in power transformer diagnostics and testing innovation.

New Product Introduction (NPI) Support

  • Lead regional product launches, ensuring market readiness through:
    • Internal training
    • Customer awareness campaigns
    • Demonstration units
    • Launch events and webinars
  • Collect structured market feedback to support product refinement and roadmap development.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Regional revenue and growth of the Transformer portfolio.
  • Opportunity pipeline development and conversion rates.
  • Market share gain within strategic segments.
  • Number of customer engagements, demos, and technical presentations delivered.
  • Customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Feedback and implementation of BU initiatives within the region.
  • Internal competency improvement (sales team knowledge & capability).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or related technical discipline (preferred).
  • 6-8 years of experience in electric utility, transformer diagnostics, condition-based maintenance, or technical sales.
  • Strong technical understanding of transformer testing principles
  • Proven ability to communicate and present complex technical concepts in a clear and structured manner.
  • Experience working with utilities, OEMs, service companies, EPCs, or industrial customers.
